We are delighted to have again been named in The Times ‘Best Law Firms’. This is a brilliant achievement for the firm and acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our team.

It has been a fantastic year, and an extremely busy one. Early this year, we welcomed Molly Ashcroft and Rebecca Pantelli as shareholding directors in the company, which signalled the beginning of an exciting new period of growth for the firm.

Since then, we have helped and supported hundreds of clients, we have continued our political work shining a spotlight on injustices with a view to catalysing systemic change and making our society a fairer place to be.

We launched the Jessica Aviss Memorial Award in memory of our dear Friend and Colleague, Jess, who tragically passed away last year. We reflected on the importance of family law in protecting fundamental human rights. A moving tribute to an exceptional lawyer.

Jenny’s work on the Family Justice Council (FJC) continues to use a multi-disciplinary approach to produce effective guidance for some of the most complex areas in family law. This year, saw the issuing of guidance explaining a child’s unexplained reluctance, resistance or refusal to spend time with a parent and allegations of alienating behaviour. The guidance has been well received as a critical move to debunk myths, recalibrate responsibilities, address the interplay between domestic abuse and allegations of so-called ‘alienating behaviours’ and centring the voice of the child. Other critical work streams include The Voice of the Child, The Trauma Informed Court and the essential guidance produced to improve the family justice system for neurodivergent families and children.

Three senior members of the firm, Jenny Beck, Jasmine Hollis and Flora Hughes are co-founders of Family Law Advice for the Neurodivergent Community (FLANC). This award-winning organisation has gone from strength to strength in its first year, challenging stereotypes and resulting in improved awareness and better ways of working within the system to champion fairness and justice.

Earlier in the summer, we also announced our partnership with AXA Investment Managers – supporting AXA Investment Managers employees in their We Care programme, for which Beck Fitzgerald provide a confidential discussion and tailored legal advice to survivors and victims of domestic abuse.

Our senior Divorce and Finances consultant, Farhana Shahzady has also been making waves with her work on highlighting and ameliorating the impact of the (peri)menopause in the family justice system. Throughout the year, Farhana’s work on MoneyPause (which explores the financial and legal fallout of the menopause in relationship breakdown and the family court’s inability to account for the effects), has appeared in the Daily Mail, The Times, Resolution, as well as featuring in an exclusive chapter in Kate Muir’s book: ‘How to Have a Magnificent Midlife Crisis’.

More recently Jenny has been engaging directly with Government regarding the Legal Aid Agency cyber-security breach and the impact on practitioners, having been invited to Downing Street and speaking alongside the Minister responsible for the Family Courts and Legal Aid in Westminster.

We would like to thank all who voted for us; we are delighted that we have been recognised for what we have achieved this year in delivering justice for our clients and expanding access to justice for those who rightly deserve it.
